This is the Karting1.co.uk Aixro XR50 Wankel / Rotary Kart Engine Test. This kart is unbelievably fast, and has a power to weight ratio as good as a SuperCar. This thing is awesome, FAST, and is one of the best kart engines ever made. – Full Review – http://www.karting1.co.uk/wankel-kart-test.htm

I stood up on a parked yard go-cart once, and got burns into my thigh muscle for it when the clutch failed and it started off in full force. Is that why the guy was running over to the driver when he stood up?
Comment by w4speed on 9 February 2007:
The nonsense that appears on here! Even an ordinary racing not rental kart can easily hit more than 70. These things are way, way faster than that. Your neighbour doesnt have one of these because if he did hed be serious about it and wouldnt put on funny-car wheels and tires.
Or, if you just intended to elicit response by making silly comment nice one.
Comment by wasup23tube on 11 February 2007:
you need to put bigger tires in the back, you will go hella faster my neighbor has one of these and he was toppin out at 50, he put 12″ tires on it and got going almost 70

No, not exactly: Opening of the cantata Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
This question has been asked and answered numerous times in this thread.

A Formula E SuperKart was recorded at 0-60 in 1.9 seconds. People do put bike 1000cc engines on karts but they never look right, and don’t turn corners too well. Mental, but not quick
Comment by w4speed on 23 February 2007:
Well, I suppose if youre into silly dragsters then anything goes. But karts are made to go around features called corners, quickly. Almost any proper racing kart would leave your overweight concoction for dead around a track.
This Aixro is a proper kart racing engine; the best. Car engines belong in cars like truck engines belong in trucks. But sure, enjoy building your car with a truck engine. Just dont expect it to turn corners at speed.
Also, whats special about 10000 rpm?
Comment by bwh998 on 25 February 2007:
would be better without all of the annoying music and such edited in.

The wankel cannot be turned into a success . An efficient rotary engine was posted by Philistia Industrial Group and anyone who views it can see the difference . It is no doubt the engine of the future . It is here on Youtube . MAZDA’s engineers should have a good look at it , maybe they will want to have it replace the Wankel in the RX8 .

Inventors in this catigory should keep in mind that the objective is not just to make a new revolving machine , the objective is to make a revolving machine which produces more power and consumes less fuel compared with existing internal combustion engines . Such a machine should also have a cooling system , a lubrication system and a wear compensating system so as to ensure its long life . For a failed example , the wankel needs an overhaul every 50000km and consumes more fuel. This isn’t a game

Well, I wouldn’t say a 1.3 liter engine would make it overweight or a monstrosity. Don’t you think it would be fun to have a ridiculously powerful go kart with an engine that can go 10,000 RPMs? You don’t think it would be fun to step on the gas and go 0-60 in 3 seconds, or just smoke the tires for 100 feet? Sounds like you need to play more Gran Turismo
Comment by Cringle84 on 3 March 2007:
You the only other engine that has more power to weight than a Wankel is the turbine, a wankel is a totally different beast than the well known reciprocating engine.
Comment by w4speed on 6 March 2007:
OK, I suppose I could imagine just how much of a completely useless, overweight, ill-handling monstrosity that would be. So your point is.?
Comment by AwesomeMcTasty on 8 March 2007:
Imagine a 230 HP go-kart
Comment by nhop07 on 8 March 2007:
wankels are 5k outta the box not including pipe, clutch etc.
